Gareth Butterfield

Journalist and Road Tester

Gareth's obsession with cars began long before he can remember, but the world of automotive journalism sunk its teeth into him when his father bought him a car magazine at the age of six - to shut him up.

It worked. Gareth devoured every page. And he fixated on the idea that he might one day become a motoring journalist himself.

It took longer than he thought, and it cost him a lengthy career in local news, but he's been driving cars and writing about them for 14 years now and his work has been published in countless national, regional, and local publications.

As a self-proclaimed fan of rubbish cars, Gareth's daily driver and guilty pleasure is a 2011 Fiat Panda - but he's usually got something else tucked away in the garage if he ever needs to look posh. Besides, he's usually clutching the keys to a press car, having built up strong relationships with the UK's manufacturers.

Although his heart lies in the print industry, the digital revolution has not passed Gareth by. In fact, part of his day job is reviewing the latest consumer technology which, of course, is becoming an important part of the automotive industry as we move further and further into an exciting electrified future.
